TOKYO, March 31 – Following the creation and rapid spread of the “We Love You” Facebook campaign launched by Roni Edry and Michal Tamir, Rael, founder and spiritual leader of the International Raelian Movement (www.rael.org) today awarded each member of the couple the rare title “Honorary Guide of Humanity.”

“Radical change cannot come from governments, who are only concerned about keeping their power,” Rael explained in a statement released today. “This love revolution can only come from the people, and the initiative of Rony Edry and Michael Tamir is exactly what this world needs.”

“The Honorary Guide distinction is conferred only upon those who place the overall good of humanity above self interest,’ said Brigitte Boisselier, spokesperson for the Raelian Movement. “According to Rael, humanity has only one way to survive: adopting radical, global nonviolence, and this Facebook campaign is a step in the right direction. It has drawn thousands of supporters in very few days and shows no sign of slowing down.”

In a speech given during September 2006, Rael called for the rise of a Jewish Gandhi.

“Only love and sharing can save the world,” he said then. “We need a Jewish Gandhi who would make all of humanity respect the Jewish people for a long time.”

In today’s statement, Rael said Edry and Ramir are helping to fill that need.

“Roni and Michal are Jewish Ghandis and they should start a political party for peace through nonviolence,” he said. “The people have had enough of the media and government manipulation that conditions them to accept and promote violence and creates the illusion that they need governments and politicians to protect them. If fear disappears and nonviolence prevails, then no government, politicians, laws, money or media will be needed, and the world can become a beautiful, anarchist society of collaboration, sharing, compassion and love. That is the world we are meant to live in!”
